In an effort to educate parents about RCSA curriculum and technology resources as well as have a little bit of fun on a Saturday, RCSA Elementary hosted its first Back to School Bash on September 10th.
Parents were able to visit their child’s classroom, get acquainted with the teacher/s, and learn about the expectations, upcoming projects, daily routines and procedures, and other important events happening in the classroom. Technology sessions were also held in the computer lab, where parents could access information about RCSA Connect, i-Ready, Accelerated Reader, Study Island, ThinkCentral, and Class Dojo.
Arguably the best part of it all, were the many events happening outside in our playground area. Here, you could find pizza, barbecue, hotdogs, face painting, football tosses, 20-yard dashes, free book give-aways, martial arts demonstrations, and community event information…even the United States Navy made an appearance! Several parents made appointments for massages while their children danced the Cupid Shuffle. Our Parent Volunteer Organization, Science Olympiad, and Safety Patrols were also able to raise money for their events.
It was a great day for RCSA staff, parents, students, volunteers, and the community. We have already begun to plan next year’s Back to School Bash!
