 Middle and High School Teacher (Mathematics)

River City Education Services, Inc. dba River City Science Academy has multiple openings available for the position of Middle and High School Teacher (Mathematics) with the following qualifications:

Requires Bachelor's in Mathematics. Foreign equivalent accepted. Requires two (2) years of experience teaching mathematics. Stated experience must include coaching Math or Science Olympiad Teams. Also requires Florida Educators Certificate in Mathematics (Grades 6-12) or Official Statement of Eligibility thereof is required per state law.

Job duties for the position include:

Instruct middle and high school students in grades 6-12 in mathematics. Design interdisciplinary learning experiences that fulfill the state of Florida’s standards and are consistent with the school’s mission of providing a college preparatory secondary education focused on science and mathematics. Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students varying needs and interests, using flexible grouping based on on-going assessment to confer with students and provide differentiated instruction using college prep curricula and methodologies. Choose instructional practices, compelling topics, in-depth investigations, and detailed project plans to include plans for integrating interdisciplinary instruction as well as to promote character development in students. Guide students as they explore the schools problem-centered curriculum and develop an in-depth understanding of important mathematics concepts embedded within each activity. Expose students to problem solving, communication, and reasoning activities through real-world applications. Use a variety of teaching methodologies as well as innovative instructional methods to encourage students to develop a positive attitude toward mathematics and facilitate the learning of each area. Promote the student’s academic potential and interest in math through guided instruction, individual and teamwork, tactile and kinesthetic activities, data collection, class work, and homework activities. Prepare, administer, and grade tests and assignments to evaluate students’ progress. Maintain accurate, complete, and correct student records as required by law, district policies, and administrative regulations. Support students in the development of their work for presentations in regional, statewide, national, and international competitions. Confer with parents or guardians, other teachers, counselors, and administrators in order to resolve students behavioral and academic problems or to discuss students’ progress, and to determine students’ priorities and needs. Coach Math or Science Olympiad teams by facilitating the program and guiding students to achieve high levels of knowledge and love for the subject.

Middle and High School Teacher (Physics)

Requires Bachelor's in Physics or Education with a specialization in Physics. Foreign equivalent accepted. Requires two (2) years of experience teaching Physics. Also requires Florida Educators Certificate in Physics (Grades 6-12) or an Official Statement of Eligibility thereof is required per state law.

Job duties for the position include:

Instruct middle and high school students in grades 6-12 in physics. Teach Advanced Placement (AP) Physics as part of the college board advanced placement program courses. Design interdisciplinary learning experiences that fulfill the state of Florida’s standards and are consistent with the school’s mission of providing a college preparatory secondary education focused on science and physics. Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students varying needs and interests, using flexible grouping based on on-going assessment to confer with students and provide differentiated instruction using college prep curricula and methodologies. Choose instructional practices, compelling topics, in-depth investigations, and detailed project plans to include plans for integrating interdisciplinary instruction as well as to promote character development in students. Guide students as they explore the school’s problem-centered curriculum and develop an in-depth understanding of important physics concepts embedded within each activity. Science Olympiad Coordinator

River City Education Services, Inc. dba River City Science Academy has one opening available for the position of Science Olympiad Coordinator with the following qualifications:

Requires Bachelor's in Chemistry. Foreign equivalent accepted. Requires 60 months experience in the offered job or 60 months experience as a middle or high school science teacher. Stated experience must include 2 years of coaching students for Science Olympiad competitions.

Job duties for the position include:

Organize and coordinate activities related to Science Olympiad and science fair competitions for Middle School and High School. Plan and develop instructional materials such as lectures, multimedia tools, and experiments that complement the science curricula and encourage participation in Science Olympiad competitions related to the subject at various levels. Coordinate with teams from other schools and organizers of multi-team events as necessary for participation in official Science Olympiad competitions and events. Participate in workshops, committees, and conferences as required to coordinate events, and ensure that Science Olympiad activities work to strengthen the school’s general science instruction. Develop instructional materials, coordinate educational content, and incorporate current technology in science education into events and activities related to Science Olympiad. Recommend, order, distribute, and maintain instructional materials, supplies, equipment, and visual aids required for Science Olympiad instruction, training, and events. Interpret and enforce provisions of the national Science Olympiad rules and regulations to ensure that events are conducted in alignment with national standards. Assist with the organization, production, and design of curriculum materials to coordinate Science Olympiad subject matter and activities with general science curricula in order to reinforce academic material and enhance students learning experience. Create and implement plans for specific subjects and individual student needs to develop team teaching approach and support team members who are not performing as strongly in certain areas to improve their Science Olympiad performance as well as their general academic performance. Meet regularly with department staff and administration to coordinate efforts.
